Malaysian Squash Player Sivasangari Out of Commonwealth Games After Major Car Accident – The Malaysian top squash player Sivasangari will miss the Birmingham Commonwealth games after being injured in the major car accident on Sunday. The accident took place on the Maju Expressway.
As per few reports, the 23 year old was travelling in a car. The car hit a lorry on Maju Expressway due to which Sivasangari has suffered some serious injuries.
Sivasangari was rushed to Putrajaya Hospital for treatment. It is understood that the world no. 19 underwent a surgery and is now stable and awake.
Sivasangari Subramaniam was scheduled to represent Malaysia in squash. It was also reported that Sivasangari was supposed to be the flag bearer for Malaysia along with para athlete Bonnie Bunyau.
Sivasangari Subramaniam was a medal prospect for Malaysia in both singles and doubles squash events.
The Commonwealth Games are scheduled from 28th July to 8th August 2022 in Birmingham, England.
This is the second high profile accident on the Maju Expressway. In 2020, the Japanese badminton player Kento Momota was involved in a car accident. The driver of the van died in the that accident and Kento Momota sustained serious injuries.
Since that accident, Kento Momoto has never been a dominant force he used to be prior to the accident.
